Train the Trainer Session for the “Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics”
to be held in conjunction with EuroCHRIE Conference
5 / 6 October 2014
The STR SHARE Center will be conducting a free Train-the-Trainer session for the “Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics” on Sunday and Monday, October 5th & 6th, at The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management in Dubai. The “CHIA” certification for students and professors is being jointly offered by ICHRIE, AHLEI, and the STR. Over 1,500 students have received the certification since its launch. There are 250 schools and over 550 professors involved around the world. This will be the 23rd TTT workshop conducted. The sessions will run for the full day on Sunday and end a little early on Monday. We appreciate Dr. Stuart Jauncey and Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management for graciously offering to host the event on their campus. If you would like more information about the CHIA certification, or would like to reserve a seat, please contact Duane Vinson, dvinson@str.com.
The “Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics” is the leading hotel-related certification for university students graduating from Hospitality and Tourism programs. This recognition provides evidence of a thorough knowledge of the foundational metrics, definitions, formulas, and methodologies that are used by the hotel industry. Recipients have proven that they can “do the math” and interpret the results. They have demonstrated an ability to analyze various types of hotel industry data and to make strategic inferences based upon that analysis. Certification also confirms a comprehensive understanding of benchmarking and performance reports. Recipients have a grasp of the current landscape of the hotel industry, including relevant current events. Achieving this distinction announces that these students have a place among the best graduates in their profession and opens the doors to future career opportunities.
The STR SHARE Center was launched in 2011 and there are now over 340 member schools from nearly 45 countries around the world participating. The name stands for “Supporting Hotel-related Academic Research and Education”. The goal of the SHARE Center is to provide a large volume of various types of hotel data for use in research and in the classroom. A comprehensive list of data is available, including performance stats, accounting P&L numbers, and Pipeline info. In addition to data, there are a wide range of additional resources including sample reports, industry publications, and training programs such as “Hotel Math Fundamentals, the metrics used by the Hotel Industry” The SHARE Center provides support to professors in the form of newsletters, help with student projects, and research assistance. Complimentary memberships are available to introduce your faculty to all of the materials. If you would like more information please contact us at sharecenter@str.com.
Thank you and I hope to see you there.
