A Message from the President
Dear EuroCHRIE family and friends,
First of all, I would like to thank all of you for giving me the opportunity to work for you and with you for the next two years. I am deeply honoured to have been elected President, and I intend to do my utter best to keep things moving forward and follow the hard work my predecessors have started.
The first APac-EuroCHRIE conference that took place in May in Hong Kong was a success and now it is time to think of the next joint conference that will take place in 2023. We are already working on this to make sure our members get the best experience ever, and if you are willing to host this conference, then do not hesitate to contact us and fill in the Expression of Interest documents.
We have been working on the conference process so that potential hosts find it easier to apply. James Musgrave, our Director of Networking, has done a tremendous job on this new process and helps bidders as much as he can, along with board members. Let me take this opportunity to encourage you and your institution to submit a bid for the years to come. It will be our pleasure to help you with this procedure and highlight your country.
Thanks to Steve and Rai Shacklock, our website is taking a new dimension and will be able to offer more possibilities to all users, such as learning material sharing initiated by our Director of Education, Henri Kuokkanen. Our online presence is being more dominant as well thanks to the work of our Director of Marketing, Florian Hummel.
Thanks to our Director of Education, Henri Kuokkanen, and our Vice-President, Xander Lub, a new format has been created to promote research. Our Small Group Meetings will encourage researchers to share their experience and methods. The first one will take place in Lyon, on November 13th – 15th. The aim of these events is to create a truly multidisciplinary environment that can help to open new research avenues and stimulate cooperation within these exciting fields of exploration. The first two days focus on how food and hospitality experiences can be designed and measured. The third day moves forward to a detailed analysis of food experience by investigating food and flavour perception mechanisms and exploring the business and public health outcomes.
In order for us to make sure you get the best out of your membership, we will be sending our surveys to ask you what you expect during conferences, SGMs or as value propositions for memberships. Please fill in these surveys so we can change things for the best.
As you can tell, being part of EuroCHRIE is truly a teamwork experience. We would be delighted to welcome you on board as an area consultant or as a director on the Board. Do not hesitate to contact any board member or myself if you are willing to live the experience.
I look forward to meeting you all soon.
