Professor Kaye Chon

Professor Kaye Chon is the Dean of School and Chair Professor of Hotel and Tourism Management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

A former hotel manager and tourism industry consultant, Professor Chon previously held academic positions at the University of Houston, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and Virginia Tech in the United States. He graduated from the University of Maryland (A.A.), Georgia State University (B.S.), the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (MSc) and Virginia Tech (Ph.D.). He is in Who’s Who In The World and Who’s Who In U.S. Lodging Industry.

Among academic and scholarly contributions, he has authored or edited ten books and has published over 200 papers. One of his co-authored books, Welcome to Hospitality: An Introduction, has been adopted as a textbook in more than 100 hospitality education programs worldwide. An active member of the scholarly community, Professor Chon is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Travel & Tourism Marketing and Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research. He has also served as Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research and a guest editor for Journal of Travel Research, Pacific Tourism Review, and Tourism Recreation Research.

During his academic career, he received numerous visiting professorships, research fellowships, and Visiting Lectureships from universities around the world, including Universite d’Angers, University of Innsbruck and Management Institute of Innsbruck, Rikkyo University, Wuhan University, Prince of Songkla University and Siam University, Hainan University, Griffith University, Shanghai Normal University, Hallym University, University of Delaware, and the University of Tennessee.
