I am a Senior Lecturer in Tourism Management at the Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), United Kingdom. My research interests include tourism and the experience economy, with a particular focus on tourists’ experiences of travelling, as well as tourism and hospitality education. My current role at MMU is the postgraduate research degrees coordinator for the Department of Food and Tourism Management. I teach undergraduate students on the tourism management programme and supervise MPhil and PhD students. I am also actively involved in enterprise activity at MMU; I have worked previously on tourism consultancy projects for the private, public and voluntary sectors. I am currently engaged in a European Union Tempus project (NETOUR) with 16 institutional partners from across Europe and Russia.

I joined the Board of EuroCHRIE in 2012 as Area Consultant for the United Kingdom. My first year as Area Consultant has involved auditing the provision of tourism and hospitality education across the United Kingdom, and identifying contacts within these institutions to strengthen links with CHRIE and increase membership and conference attendance. I have also supported the 2013 CHRIE conferences in St Louis (International CHRIE) and Freiburg (EuroCHRIE) through the submission of coauthored research papers. I look forward to meeting you in Freiburg in October!
