Jan Willem Meijerhof
Drs. Jan W. Meijerhof is Head of the Tourism Management Programme at Saxion University of Applied Sciences. He graduated from the University of Groningen (Master in Economics) in 1994. Prior to taking up his present position at Saxion, Jan worked at the Central Statistical Office in Aruba. Later, he was doing consultancy work for other small island economies.
He joined Saxion University in 2000 and has held a variety of positions. Initially he was director of the Master programme in Facility and Real Estate Management, accredited by the University of Greenwich. He then moved on to manage Saxion’s bachelor programme in Hotel Management and successfully coordinated a national accreditation for this programme. In his current position as manager of the tourism management programme and faculty coordinator for internationalisation he has changed the focus of the faculty from a national to an international one. This has had a huge impact on the curricula, including research focus, the teaching staff and the student body. Alongside his managerial duties, he teaches economics, revenue management and marketing.
